After a hiatus for several years from designing and leading wine tours, I’m really pleased to present this programme of great tours which are operated by Kirker Holidays.

Covid19 Crisis

We have cancelled the Rioja & Northern Spain and Sicily tours and rescheduled these to Autumn 2021. Autumn 2020. Regretably, in the end the Champagne Tour had to be cancelled too and is now resheduled for November 2021.

Kirker is a fully bonded travel firm and is backed by the Kouni group. It is a member of ABTA and AITO and is licensed by the CAA holding an ATOL. All payments made are secure and full refunds are made immediately in the event that we have to withdraw tours.

The first tour was a fabulous Champagne Tour in November 2019 and we’re repeating this in 2021 with superb visits lined up to the great Champagne Houses Taittinger, Bollinger and Philipponnat. There will be the rare chance to dine at the cellars and comparative tastings too. The tour also features a couple of leading small growers, Vilmart and Andre Jacquart.

For 2020/winter 2021, Kirker Holidays offered a programme including Rioja & Northern Spain, Georgia & Armenia, Sicily, Champagne and South Africa. However this programme had to be withdrawn due to the Pandemic

We are already planning the tours for 2021. So far we have a great tou and we’ll definitely be repeating Champagne on 22 – 25 November.

There are visits to some of Spain’s greatest bodegas including CVNE group, first their state of the art Viña Real winery and lunch at their single estate Contino. Other Rioja bodegas include traditionalist Lopez de Heredia and up and coming Castillo de Cuzcurrita.

After this in Ribera del Duero we taste at great bodegas including with Alejandro Fernandez ‘Pesquera’ and  a stunning dinner at ‘Condado de Haza’. I’m excited that we’ll visit fast rising star Dominio de Cair and one of the oldest Ribera bodegas, Torremilanos (who are now biodynamic). Our last visit is in Rueda with the ‘natural’ radicals, Bodegas Micro Bio.

A superb wine tour through Rioja and Old Castille discovering the legendary hospitality of the bodegas.

Georgia, a small, hospitable country on the far eastern edge of Europe, between the Lesser and Greater Caucasus Mountains, has at least 520 native grape varieties. Armenia, its southern neighbour, is where the oldest winery in the world has been found. This captivating region is where the vine originated and wines are still made here in pots sunk in the ground as they have been since Neolithic man first made wine here. There is a thriving wine culture that stretches back deep into the past and is strange and uplifting.

Although I’ve lead wine tours to Georgia before, this is I believe the first serious international consumer Wine Tour to Georgia and Armenia.
